Eco-canoeing down the river Słupia - 3rd edition starts in September!

On Sunday, 19 September, the third edition of the Słupia River Eco Rally will take place. It will be another opportunity to meet in a large group and do something good together.

This environmental initiative is organised by the Alpha Team diving centre. Everyone is invited to participate. Divers, kayakers and people who will provide support on land. It is undoubtedly worth noting that the Eco rafting on the river Słupia, is a civic project. It all started in 2019, when the Ustka community chose it as part of the civic budget of the city of Ustka.

Eco-canoeing down the river Słupia has been very popular from the very beginning. Already in the first edition of the event as many as 250 participants registered at the site! A total of350 people took part in the debut edition, which translated into 1.5 tonnes of waste removed!

Such a positive reception of the whole event caused the Ustka community to once again select the canoeing project for implementation as part of the civic budget. In 2020, despite many obstacles, the turnout was high and nearly 450 people took part in the event. Such a large number of participants exceeded the organisers’ wildest expectations. Unfortunately, as it turned out, there was not less litter.

Participation in the rafting trip

Anyone can take part in the Słupia River eco-canoe for free. Participants swim in any diving suit or other suit that ensures buoyancy and safety, and in ABC equipment. On the way, they take out of the water everything that does not belong to nature.

Canoeists and other “watermen” also take part in the rafting trips, helping to haul away litter. That is why during the previous editions canoeists, anglers, cyclists and members of hiking clubs, among others, took part. In the harbour of Ustka, lifeguards from the Maritime Search and Rescue Service took part in the cleaning of the channel and adjacent pools.

The venue and finish line is the kayak shel ter located at Darłowska Street in Ustka. The canoeing rally starts in several places at once. Divers start it at the level of Wodnica, canoeists in Bydlin, walking participants according to their discretion and physical abilities. The whole event takes about 8 hours.

The fans cheering on the participants in the canoeing rally will be provided with many attractions and entertainment for the youngest. Hot meals and drinks are provided for all those taking part in the clean-up.
