German media have reported on a diving accident that occurred in the flooded Hemmoor quarry, Germany. As far as is known from police findings, a 59-year-old man died during the dive.

The incident happened last Saturday. The victim, who was from the south of Germany, went diving with another person. At some point, the man collapsed. Shortly afterwards, the first rescuers rushed to his aid.

Two rescue swimmers brought the injured person ashore. Unfortunately, despite an efficient rescue operation, a doctor present at the scene pronounced the victim dead. Police are investigating to establish the cause of the incident.

The flooded Hemmoor quarry, located in Lower Saxony, is an extremely popular diving site with visitors from all over Europe. In addition to good visibility, the reservoir has an extensive infrastructure, which makes it possible to conduct comfortable and interesting dives for divers of all levels of experience.
