The wreckage of a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft has been found in the waters of Weymouth Bay, on the south coast of England. According to the findings, the machine, which belonged to the US Air Force, crashed off the coast of Dorset on May 7, 1944, and has since been lying at a depth of 25 metres.

World War II aviation enthusiasts made a 3D video presentation of what the diving team found and documented at the bottom. We can see, among other things, the engine of the found machine and the remains resting in the vicinity of the wreck.
It has been established that the wrecked aircraft is a version of the P-47 D, produced since the winter of 1943 and very similar to the P-47C-5. Among other things, it was characterised by the possibility of attaching a bomb or a fuel tank under the aircraft.
