Through the use of sonar and bottom scanning technology, the exact location of the wreck and its remains has been determined and the size of the find has been determined. Based on the information gathered so far, it has already been established that the ship found was built around 1500.

This is basically all that has been found out so far. Now, by conducting more in-depth research, archaeologists will try to answer some basic questions. To whom did the ship belong? What was it used for? and also the basic question concerning all wrecks – why and how did it sink?

The wreck was discovered by Rijkswaterstaat last year. Its image on the bottom was captured by sonar, with which they were searching for a modern yacht that had sunk somewhere in the area. The searchers’ surprise was immense as they found the image of an extremely old wooden vessel rising from the bottom.
