A 34-year-old British man, while hunting with a crossbow, lost contact with the craft he was taking out into the waters of Sharks Bay in Western Australia. When he couldn’t see it anywhere near him after surfacing, he decided to start calling for help and splashing water to mark his position. It was then that he spotted a shark in his vicinity…
An Englishman from Sunderland, who has been living in Australia for two years, reports that at one point he spotted a large tiger shark right next to him. The animal responsible for the second highest number of attacks on humans among sharks, was about 4 metres long.
[blockquote style=”2″]”The shark was dangerously close to me and kept coming closer, coming at me from different directions and angles. Evidently it was trying to figure out what I was and whether I was suitable to be on its menu. It was terrifying. I was afraid I was going to be eaten in the middle of nowhere because the shark didn’t want to let me alone,” the surviving diver recounted in an interview with the BBC.[/blockquote]
OCEAN DIVING SURVIVOR TALKS
A WA diver has opened up on his ocean ordeal telling Nine News how he was stalked by sharks during three hours lost at sea.
In an exclusive interview, John Craig revealed how he survived against the odds, to swim seven kms to safety.

As the shark circled around the diver, the diver set a final boundary between them in the form of a crossbow. He knew he had to make a decision and could not stay in this place. On the horizon line, he spotted a red cliff looming very low in the distance. He decided to give it a try and set off on the long journey to the shore.
However, the shark did not give up and for another quarter of an hour accompanied the man fighting for life.
[blockquote style=”2″]”At this point I thought it was over. Four nautical miles offshore, with a giant tiger shark right next to me? I was almost convinced that this was where my life would end. Fortunately, after some time the shark swam away.” – concludes the rescued diver[/blockquote].
After more than three hours spent swimming in the backwaters and reaching the shore, he found that his position had improved only a little. There were no longer any sharks around, but he found himself in total seclusion. After unsuccessfully trying to draw attention to himself with the light reflecting off the glass of his mask, John Craig decided to start walking along the shoreline, hoping to meet someone.
Fortunately, everything turned out well. About 30 minutes later, the pilot of an aircraft involved in the search spotted the Briton on the shore. The diver was very fortunate, as the vessel was making its last pass due to running out of fuel. The boat notified by the pilot eventually found and rescued the 34-year-old.
