Conference "Underwater research - methods, monitoring and education"

The 1st All-Poland Conference ‘Underwater Research – Methods, Monitoring and Education’ will be held on 4-6 October at the Training and Recreation Centre ‘Gwarek’ in Ślesin. The event is organised by the Scientific Subcommittee of the Polish Tourist Country-Lovers’ Committee, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

The aim of the meeting will be to exchange experience and learn about the latest developments in the field of underwater research, with particular emphasis on the methods used, the principles of water monitoring and environmental education.

During the conference, training workshops will be organised where it will be possible to improve diving qualifications and obtain the 1st and 2nd degree ecologist diver and extractor diver certificates. The trainings will be conducted by qualified instructors with many years of experience, including in conducting scientific work.

Speaking topics will include the following:

• Research and monitoring of fauna and flora of lakes and rivers
• Monitoring of invasive species
• Research methods, tools and techniques applied to aquatic ecosystems
• Use of scuba diving in underwater research
• GIS in underwater research and lake morphology
• Geography of lakes and rivers
• Use of underwater research results for educational purposes and dissemination of conservation knowledge

In addition, conference participants will have priority when qualifying for participation in expeditions organised by the KDP Scientific Subcommittee.

Valuable prizes will be drawn among the conference participants, including the main prize – Electronic Navigation Console ENC2 for a DPV diving scooter of Polish brand Seacraft!
