Last Saturday, 23 April, Clean the World 2.0 Gdansk took place, and now it’s time to sum up the first part of the whole action.
According to our announcement, last weekend in Gdansk the first edition of the action took place Clean up the world 2.0. This was the so-called water edition of the whole action, in which the combined forces of divers, kayakers and walkers took part. The result? As expected, a lot of unnecessary objects disappeared from under the water and from the banks of cleaned reservoirs.
Divers in action! Among the fairly expected waste, such as glass bottles, cans and candy wrappers, they also found a scooter boot, tyres or a backpack packed in the Motława River. As they stress, there is not that much waste in the searched area (fortunately!). Nevertheless, there is a lot to do! And we are already thinking about continuing these activities in the future. We want to have Clean City Gdańsk also in the water, at the bottom and by the shore! – we read on the action’s website.
Until now, the activities focused around the idea of “Clean up the World” had the dimension of a one-off event. This year, however, the organisers have decided to turn it into a whole series of different actions. In this way, they plan to integrate citizens as well as various groups and entities around the idea of a Clean City.

Also The objectives will be different and each edition will focus on a different place. The “water” edition planned for 23 April will deal with cleaning, among others, at six retention reservoirs in the south of Gdańsk, at the New Motława and in the Marina at Żabi Kruk Street.

A total of four editions of the “Clean up the world” cycle have been planned by the organisers for 2022. After the edition of 23 April, the next ones will take place on 21 May and throughout the month of June. In turn, an edition involving students from Gdansk schools is planned for September.
