The wreck of a giant passenger plane has been sunk off the north-west coast of Turkey. The aim was to create an artificial reef and an underwater attraction for diving tourists. Interestingly, this is another object of this type sunk in this part of the world recently.

The previously cleaned and properly prepared Airbus A330 was sunk at a depth of 30 metres in the waters of the Aegean Sea, near the port of Ibrice in Edirne province.

Local authorities hope that the sinking of the plane will be a clear boost to the local economy and help attract many diving tourists from around the world.
