Local media have reported that one of the decommissioned streetcars will go underwater instead of being scrapped. Thus, the popular diving base, which is a Piechcin quarrywill be enriched with a fantastic attraction for divers.

A worn-out Toronto streetcar from 1984. – Konstal 805 Na with rolling stock number 253 was purchased by the Piechcin Diving Center. The appropriately prepared vehicle will be sunk by the center’s employees in a flooded quarry. Thus, the diving base in Piechcin will gain a great attraction, which is sure to attract many visitors.

The sinking of the streetcar has been scheduled by the organizers of the whole action for Tuesday, July 26, at 10 a.m. Instead of ending up in scrap, the old Konstal will get a new life and more “passengers”. Probably it will quickly become a favorite of divers and soon we will see many photos and videos of underwater rides.

We usually ride the tracks in Torun, but this time we’ll end up where no one is likely to expect to meet us – deep underwater. I hope that by exploring our streetcar, divers will have a lot of fun said Zbigniew Wyszogrodzki, president of MZK in Toruń.

On the occasion of the sinking of the streetcar, MZK has prepared stickers that provide humorous instructions for using the streetcar underwater. They feature funny slogans that refer to public transportation and the underwater world.

Interestingly, MZK CEO Zbigniew Wyszogrodzki, who is an active diver, will also participate in the sinking. As befits a good host, he will personally inspect the last stop the streetcar will reach.
