V Masurian Night Mile is history… This year, the weather was not spoiling – especially for the spectators gathered on the shore. Although we divers are all the same, it is a pity, because there was a lot to look at!

13 divers joined the active participation in this year’s “Mile”. Yes, yes… and despite the discouraging weather we did not give up! Not all of us were able to complete the entire route, but the very start to such a distance is already quite a challenge.

This is not a 30-minute dive at the bottom or the wall – here you have to swim a MILE. This is not a 30 min. light searching for a fish. 100 minutes. This is not a dive at the depth of a dozen meters, where a meter up or down makes almost no difference to buoyancy. Here, one metre up is half the depth.

This is not a quarry or a cave from a commercial. Here the clarity varies between 0 and 3 metres and the compass has to be at your nose all the time. It is also not a small effort for the head – 45 minutes is still fun, but 1.5 hours is already a bit much.

I mention air planning at the end, because it seems shallow, but the time function grows mercilessly.

We would like to congratulate all participants on taking up the gauntlet, and the divers who managed to complete the Mazurian Night Mile underwater, on their power, diving skills and self-denial.
