The video documentation gives an idea of the damage suffered by the Norwegian frigate at the time of the collision, as well as the current state of the wreck. The footage was probably prepared during an operation to remove armaments from the vessel, which took place in early December. During the work, hard disks were also excavated to assist in the ongoing investigation.
According to available information, the wreck of the frigate “Helge Ingstad” will be raised from the water later this year, weather permitting.
An ultra-modern warship collided with a 250-metre tanker, on the night of 8 November 2018 Taking on water, it was deposited on the rocks near Hjeltefjord. It was protected from sinking into the depths by several steel cables, but these were broken and the tilted vessel began to take on even more water before disappearing beneath the sea surface.
