Following the discovery of part of the damaged wooden hull from the sand, work at the site was halted, but the rest of the site is continuing as scheduled. The surrounding area has been secured. The relevant services have also been informed immediately.

If the rest is underground, its size can be estimated at about 2-3 m wide and about 10 m long.

Świnoujście has the widest beach in Poland, as it is one of the few places where sea sand accumulates and expands. Years ago there was a shore in this place, so this is not an area where the appearance of a find may suggest a larger area of discoveries. The exact expertise will be known in a month or two.

“We are very pleased that the find is in our area especially as the Spa Group supports the arts, including applied arts, of which the historic vessel is an example. If its display value is confirmed, we are determined to secure funding for the preservation and permanent public display of the wooden ship at the promenade in cooperation with relevant institutions. In this way, all residents and tourists will be able to see the exhibit. ” – concludes Jan Wróblewski, Member of the Board of Zdrojowa Invest & Hotels Group, the owner of the project.

On 23 March, a conservation officer came to the site to prepare a preliminary report. A proper expert opinion should appear within a month or two. The find is protected and periodically sprinkled with water to prevent it from drying out.
