Suunto releases software update for EON Steel

Well-known Finnish dive equipment manufacturer Suunto has announced the release of the latest software update for its flagship EON Steel computer. Software version 1.4.26 introduces many interesting improvements, which you can read about below.

With the software version 1.4.26, the EON Steel already supports 14 languages. Among the available languages are of course English and Polish, but also simplified Chinese, French, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch. As you can see, this is quite a cross-section of language groups, which certainly pleases customers all over the world.

Wireless connectivity via the Suunto Movescount app (for iOS or Android devices). This allows you to transfer logs from your EON Steel to Movescount using Bluetooth. The service itself allows you to create and share an archive of our dive logs. Data ripped from the computer can be accompanied by additional descriptions and photos of individual dives.

As for the logbook itself, it has gained two new options for searching entries. Now we can search our archives by sorting them by dive depth and duration, and not only by date/time as before.

The ability to change gases during a dive has also been added. This allows you to switch between mixtures in an emergency and still get the correct decompression readings.

If you skip a decompression stop for more than 3 minutes, the Suunto Fused™ RGBM algorithm will lock up for another 48 hours. The EON Steel screen will show ‘LOCKED’ instead of ‘ERROR’.

As the manufacturer assures on its website, the new update also allows even more data to be displayed than before, while maintaining readability.

It was decided to also take advantage of the pause in the device’s operation, so as to minimise battery consumption as much as possible. A new “deep sleep” function is used for this purpose. It starts automatically when the computer is not used for 48 hours. You can also adjust the time it takes for the screen to turn off – 1-5 minutes of inactivity.
