Summary of the 2014 Diving Event of the Year poll

Before we announce the official results of the survey for the Diving Event of the Year, we owe all our readers a few words of explanation. This was the first time we, as a portal, got involved in this kind of project and at the beginning there were divided opinions in the editorial team. However, we decided to give it a try and as a team we tried our best to make things work out for the best.

Unfortunately, as it usually happens, expectations and reality diverged at the crossroads of the Unpleasant Truth and Brutal Reality. The event, which was supposed to be a gentlemanly competition, at some point was disturbed by the actions of third parties for whom elementary honesty and mutual respect are concepts bordering on fiction and fantasy.

The result was a crude and very inept distortion of the vote. Not that it had any effect on the final results, but we were forced to do extra work to eliminate invalid votes. By the way, there was an unpleasant situation where, in the course of determining the guilty parties and eliminating suspicious ip addresses, a shadow of suspicion fell on random people who had nothing to do with the whole incident

We would therefore like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologise to Rafal Slezak, who was hit by a “ricochet” during an internal investigation. Fortunately, we know Rafał personally and we have the best opinion about him and the principles he follows in life.

However, let us come back to the substance. The whole situation has made us realise that, in order to put the vote in the hands of the people, we have to be prepared that sometimes a few stones will fly from the crowd. By no means do we feel discouraged by this, to engage in similar initiatives in the future. We will simply treat future approaches with greater care and be much better prepared for them, following the principle of assuming all the worst possible scenarios.

As for the results themselves, we will soon finish their verification and make them public. Thank you very much to all of you who decided to get involved and support the initiative recognized by yourself as the most important Diving Event of the Year 2014. We know that in large groups you systematically supported your favourites for which you deserve a big applause.
