The Ojamo mine in Finland has been closed to divers since 1 January 2020. The current lease has expired and has not been renewed. Ojamo Technical Divers(Ojamon Tekniikkasukeltajat ry) are now asking the diving community to support them in their negotiations with the municipality to reopen the mine to divers.

If you are a cave diver, then I know dear reader that I don’t need to persuade or convince you of anything. Nor do I need to make you aware of what a wonderful place the flooded Ojamo mine is. Over the years, thousands of cave divers have visited this remarkable site. Just use the search engine by entering the name of the mine, and you can spend the next few hours admiring the amazing photos taken in the flooded corridors, with the famous “Hell’s Gate” at the forefront.

Unfortunately there will be no new photos. Also, there will be no more dives at this amazing site, unless we once again show that diving knows no boundaries and support our Finnish friends together.

The association in charge of the mine has existed for 20 years and during this time it has specialised in organising dives in Ojamo, so that divers can learn the secrets of its corridors without damaging the mine.

We hope that the current situation is only a temporary break and that diving will soon return to this wonderful place. For this, however, we need your help.

All you need to do is fill in and sign PETITION.

Thank you all in advance for your help, on behalf of both ourselves and our Scandinavian friends who have asked for help.
