Second class professional diver course – part 4

Today it blew from the north, i.e. from under the wheel, as it is not far from here. Apart from icy gusts of wind, it started to wave in the other direction, from Oslo, which brought a significant deterioration of visibility in the water, and the dive ended in a decompression chamber.

The plan for today, a 45+ dive with surface decompression. That is, what we practiced yesterday in simulation today happens for real. We do the dive from the basket in KMB 18 masks and dry suits.

Bottom time 20 mins then stops and disposal to the chamber. The dive itself was rather unattractive, as it consisted mainly of practicing timing, there was no opportunity to admire the underwater world, although from about 20m the visibility was quite good. Below 15m a steep and really impressive wall begins, which drops directly into the deepest part of Oslofjord.

After surfacing within 4 minutes the diver had to be in the cabin and already compressed at 12m. Then half an hour of relaxation in a decompression chamber with an oxygen mask on his face.

Again, we were up to the task, all pairs met the time, we got into the water smoothly…apparently the instructors didn’t believe we would all complete the task today, and we finished around 3pm and still had time to take group photos!

In the evening a decompression calculation exercise and TEST!

Tomorrow a repeat, the same exercise, as our training programme involves 2x 45+m.
