The Coast Guard said in a press release that the missing diver, identified as Bryan Nazareno, was a member of underwater photographer Scott “Gutsy” Tuason’s group. He was reported missing on Tuesday, June 4 at approximately 11 a.m.
Nazareno went diving with his group at Amos Rock, Tubbataha Reef, on Monday and disappeared around 4 p.m. After verifying the information, a Coast Guard dive team was coordinated and a rescue operation was launched.
Divers from the Special Operations Group, as well as a specialised team of medics, among others, soon joined the search. Unfortunately, the search has not yielded any results so far, but is still continuing.
Tubbataha Reef Marine Park is located in the waters of the Sulu Sea. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is an extremely attractive diving location. The whole area is of course under special protection as one of the most important marine nature reserves in the Philippines.
