Search continues for missing diver on the Hancza River

Yesterday, Thursday 21 May, there was a diving accident in the waters of Lake Hancza. As a result, only one of the two men involved in the dive surfaced. The fire brigade was called to the scene and started searching. Unfortunately, so far with no results.

Firefighters received the report at around 3.20pm and proceeded with the search and rescue operation. From the moment they arrived at the lake, the action was carried out until dusk. Despite this, the victim could not be found, so the operation was resumed when dawn broke.

We have learned from unofficial sources that the dive was conducted in the vicinity of the legendary hulks, and that both men were diving on pSCR vessels. After reaching the sunken artefacts, the divers swam out a little further and then, at a depth of 43 metres, turned back.

Due to very poor visibility, the dive participants split up. After 17 min of decompression, the first diver came to the surface. Unfortunately, as time passed, the second diver still did not return, which resulted in the notification of the emergency services.
