Polishing the emerald or cleaning up the Emerald Lake

“Grinding the Emerald” is an action planned on 2.05.2015 by the Szczecin diving centre Born2Dive, the aim of which is to clean the bottom of the Emerald Lake and the nearest surroundings. So if this beautiful and unique body of water is close to you, if you have trained in its waters, or had a nice time in the area full of attractions, we invite you to join the big clean-up!

The “seed” from which the Born2Dive team’s idea grew was finding a barrel of oil in winterThe “seed” that gave rise to the Born2Dive team’s idea was a barrel of oil that someone had sunk in a lake.

“This winter on Emerald Lake during our training dives we discovered a sunken oil drum that someone had unwisely thrown into the body of water. This gave rise to the idea that it is worth drawing the attention of the City’s residents to the problem of littering in the neighbourhood, which after all serves us so gratefully with its beauty and attractions during numerous family walks.” – writes the Born2Dive team on their homepage.

According to the organisers, on the day of the lake and area clean-up, the currency will be a bag of collected rubbish. What is collected during the clean-up can be exchanged for coffee, hot pea soup, a ticket to the inflatable castle for children, a visit to a fire engine and a ticket to the bonfire, which will also be the culmination of the day.

We warmly encourage everyone to take part in the action, because Emerald Lakeit is a place worth taking care of and keeping in the best possible condition! We wish the Born2Dive team good luck and great weather!
