An official rehearsal video has appeared on Vimeo in which William Trubridge reached a depth of 100m. As a reminder, on 13 December 2010, William Trubridge dived to a depth of 100m on one breath, in the unassisted category.

In breaking the record in this category, the diver moves only with his arms and legs (no fins, ballast or buoyancy balloons).

3 days after a successful attempt to a depth of 100m, the record holder made another attempt, this time to a depth of 101m. This was also successful. All dives took place at Deans Blue Hole, on Long Island, Bahamas.

The record-breaking project also aimed to raise public awareness of Hector’s dolphins. This species of dolphin lives only in New Zealand, in shallow coastal waters at depths of less than 100m. Hector’s dolphins are often caught in fishing nets set at these depths. The dolphin population has declined by 75% in the last 30 years.

The film was directed by Matthew Brown. The music was composed by Hans Zimmer.
