Minnesota brothers built a giant tortoise out of snow this year

Last year we wrote about an amazing shark snow sculpture made by three brothers from the small town of New Brighton, Minnesota, USA. The boys have an unusual passion for creating giant snow sculptures of various sea creatures. The result of their work is always a sensation and is covered by all the local media.

This year brothers Austin, Connor and Trevor decided to create a giant tortoise. It joined their extensive collection of snow creatures, which already includes a walrus, blowfish and last year’s aforementioned shark.

The creation of the turtle, which is more than 3.5 metres tall, started the day after Christmas with gathering as much snow as possible. The next few days were devoted to sculpting and modelling, and on 7 January the snow sculpture was ready in front of the Bartz family’s house.

“We enjoy seeing other people’s joy, especially when they stop in our backyard to take a picture. Plus it’s a great way to spend time together,” said Connor Bartz

It’s a pity that winter is so poor here, because maybe someone would decide to take up the challenge and carve a wrecker or other diver in the snow…
