Yesterday, Friday 22 May, a search was completed in the waters of Lake Hancza for a diver who had gone missing the day before. Police in Suwałki announced that the body of the wanted man had been found.

The man found was 47 years old and a resident of the Mazowieckie region. He went into the water with another diver on Thursday, but the men lost contact with each other underwater. When one of them failed to surface within the specified time, the emergency services were called to the scene.

The search for the missing diver began on Thursday at around 3.20 pm and continued until dusk, before resuming on Friday morning. As a result of the conducted activities the body of the wanted man was found, informed Assistant Commissioner Eliza Sawko, press officer of the Suwałki Police.

Investigations are currently underway to establish the causes and course of the incident. The case is being handled by local police under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office.
