Two divers had a fantastic experience while diving in the waters off the coast of Cornwall. They encountered a giant jellyfish which they managed to photograph and film. By their own admission, it was an amazing and unique experience to interact with such a magnificent and majestic creature in its natural environment.

Biologist Lizzie Daly and her cameraman Dan Abbott were diving and documenting underwater wildlife during a week-long trip along the UK coast. In Cornwall they were lucky enough to come across a giant barrel jellyfish, which they captured in the video below.

The initial assumptions before the dive were to film sharks and they were to be the main protagonists of the recorded material, but the appearance of jellyfish forced a change that they certainly do not regret. Judging by the reactions to their film, neither do the Internet users. The video from this dive has gained enormous popularity all over the world.

Dan Abbott said the whole event, led to the craziest three days of his life, and being able to be together with this magnificent giant underwater, was the best part of the experience.

As they point out, they have never seen such a large specimen of jellyfish before. Lizzie Daly stresses, however, that an encounter with such a large specimen is not as unusual or impossible as it might seem. However, she is glad that they were lucky enough to be able to capture the whole encounter on film and photos.
