We are used to finding all sorts of things underwater. If someone had the opportunity to dive in the harbour, he knows that there are even more treasures of all kinds. As it turns out, the bigger the harbour, the more significant the find…
On 17 June 2020, divers of the Dutch fire brigade found at the bottom of the Amsterdam harbour a real automotive marvel – a Ferrari Mondial, model from 1987. Another dive to the wreck was made on 29 June, but due to a large amount of mud and sand it was not possible to examine or extract the car.
Forensic evidence is now going further with the preertuig on the slag. In such a situation, an operation was meticulously prepared to raise and retrieve the unusual wreck from the water. Then, on 9 July, divers prepared the wreck and shortly afterwards the Ferrari was back on the surface.
The fished-out car is currently being examined by the police. Investigators must now establish whether it was used to commit a crime. According to information given by a witness, the car was stolen many years ago.
