Dubai has not long been famous for its extravagant and unusual property development projects. In this extraordinary city you will find such wonders as a hall with a ski slope or rotating skyscrapers or “Miracle Gardens”. Another unusual development that has joined the ranks is floating houses.

“Floating Seahorse” is something just right for people who love water and the underwater world. Under this name stands a house with rooms located… under water!

A local developer, Kleindienst Group, is responsible for all the fuss. He presented his project to the world at the Dubai International Boat Show, in March this year. According to the announcements, 42 underwater houses will be built, which are essentially boats with an unusual shape and no engine.

The structure will consist of three levels. The upper deck – the main floor – will be located at water level and partly below the surface. The bedroom and bathroom, on the other hand, will be completely underwater and will be provided with panoramic views of the underwater world.

3Levels

The underwater homes project is linked to a larger plan to protect underwater life in the Gulf, according to a Kleindienst Group press release.

“We intend to create an artificial coral reef in this area, which will provide shelter and habitat for seahorses and many other species.”

The whole project is expected to be ready by the end of 2016 and will form part of ‘The World’ archipelago – Dubai’s largest artificial island project. To date, 35 of the 42 units have already been sold .
