According to voices emerging yesterday, the search action for the two divers missing during the dive on the wreck “Franken”, will not continue. No underwater activities will be carried out either. This is thus a confirmation of the worst fears and of what none of us wanted to talk about loudly yesterday.

The surface search was conducted in very favourable weather conditions. Good visibility and lack of waves allowed for thorough combing of the area of the Gulf of Gdansk. In the search for the missing divers took part a SAR vessel and helicopter, three vessels of the Gdynia WOPR and initially one civilian vessel.

The disappearance of two divers was reported yesterday just before 2 p.m. The Maritime Search and Rescue Service immediately took action. Unfortunately, the search on the surface, which lasted many hours and was intensified, yielded no results and the operation was stopped at around 22:00.

On the website kontakt24.tvn24.pl we can read:

“The search will not be resumed,” Edmund Kosiarz, SAR duty officer, told us on Monday morning. – ‘ After analysing the weather conditions, we found that if the divers were on the surface, they would be found with the operations carried out. On the other hand, an underwater search will not be possible due to the depth of the water, which is between 45 and 75 metres at this location, he added.

Only the Navy has the forces and resources to carry out a possible search for the wreck. Its entry into action will depend on the actions of the prosecution. At the moment both divers are considered missing, but the current situation leaves no illusions.
