Tomorrow, Thursday 13 August, the documentary “Hidden Pacific” will have its online premiere. The filmmakers from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation are organising a special event to mark the occasion, and you can take part too! As well as a chance to watch the film, a chat with its creator Ian Shive is also planned.

“Hidden Pacific” is a documentary film that showcases remote special protection sites and national wildlife refuges operating in the Pacific Ocean.

An additional treat for all fans of this type of production will be the opportunity to take part in a discussion and ask questions to director Ian Shive. The filmmaker will discuss his film during the event, but will also try to explain the beauty and biological diversity of marine reserves in the Pacific Ocean and the need to protect them.

“The deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean are teeming with life. Islands that barely rise above the ocean’s surface are home to seabirds, while beneath the surface of the water are vibrant coral reefs that provide shelter to species found nowhere else on Earth. These wild and wonderful protected waters include some of the healthiest coral reefs found in US waters, as well as some of the most pristine atolls on Earth. They also help protect a rich cultural history that spans millennia – from the sacred sites of Polynesia to the battlefields of World War II.”

As ‘Hidden Pacific’ won’t be released in cinemas until 2021, the screening scheduled for Thursday 13 August, will be a one-off opportunity to see the film. Simply register at the event websiteto receive a link and password to view the film before the scheduled Q&A session with the director.
