Darkwater Vision specialises in designing and manufacturing equipment for professional divers who have to work in conditions of extremely limited or even zero visibility. Thanks to this manufacturer’s equipment, a person under water no longer has to operate in the dark, which significantly affects the time and quality of work.

There was a lot of buzz about this pioneering technology two years ago when, in 2016, the Florida-based company unveiled its ‘Hammerhead’ underwater vision system at the UK’s EUROTEK technical diving conference.

The breakthrough technology used in Darkwater Vision products allows divers to see clearly down to 2.5 metres, even in dark, murky and muddy waters where traditional measures force divers to work in zero visibility.

The American manufacturer has announced the launch of its latest device in the next few weeks and, as in 2016, the system will be presented at the EUROTEK conference, taking place in Birmingham, England. So this is another item on the long list of reasons to visit England on 1-2 December.

[blockquote style=”2″]”We have received a great many enquiries from companies carrying out various underwater works. They all wanted to know if our Hammerhead system could be used in conjunction with a diving helmet such as the Kirby Morgan. Unfortunately, it was designed for full-face masks and could not be simply translated 1:1 to a helmet. So we invested a lot of resources and work to develop a new product and now we are proud to present the result in the form of the Lamprey system,” said a Darkwater Vision representative[/blockquote].

The new system is designed as a single eyepiece, allowing it to fit a wide variety of different diving helmets and full-face masks used by professional divers on commercial dives.

In this variant, the diver uses the vision offered by the Darkwater Vision system with one eye and sees everything as normal with the other.

The Darkwater Vision system has an operational range to a depth of 100 metres. The whole thing weighs 1.8kg on the surface and about 0.8kg when submerged.
