One of 162 bottles recovered from a wreck near the Aland Islands, which we informed you about in October 2010, was sold at an auction for the sum of 30,000 euro. The alcohol dated approximately to the year 1841, dethroned the previous record obtained for one bottle at the auction, which amounted to a little over 29,000 euro.

Proceeds from the entire auction will be donated to charitable causes such as improving ocean water quality and supporting the development of maritime archaeology, which has brought lost Tsarist property back to the surface.

Last November, a gala and tasting of the oldest champagne in the world took place, during which the contents of two bottles were uncorked and tasted. The Veuve Clicquot brand expert confirmed the sensational taste and aesthetic qualities and intact content of the precious bottles.
