Recently Piotrek Kardasz sent me an interesting film made in 2010 together with XDivers Team. The film concerns a series of cave dives as part of one project – the Veneto Project. We have already had the pleasure to publish some of the films made by Piotrek and people familiar with the subject have certainly been impressed by his work.

This time the camera lens takes us to the region of northern Italy, to the Elefante Bianco (White Elephant) cave. Thanks to the video recording, we have a unique opportunity to follow the undertaking, which is a very deep cave dive, in many aspects.

Both the narrator and the main character, Michał “Majki” Winek, introduce the audience to the details of their activities and outline the background of the project, which a group of experienced cave divers decided to carry out together. It must be clearly emphasised that although the diving itself was “solo”, the support of an experienced and understanding team was necessary for it to have a chance of success.

For those who are interested in cave diving but have not yet had a similar experience, this is a unique chance to see the whole thing from behind the scenes. While we can watch many great videos of cave dives online, in only a few cases do we get to hear the voice of the participants and learn about their motivation.
