Tonight at 10pm on the Discovery Channel there will be a live broadcast of the exploration of the magical Blue Hole in Belize. Fabien Cousteau, grandson of famed explorer Jaques Cousteau, and billionaire Sir Richard Branson will travel to the bottom, 318 metres below, in a septic vehicle.

Today’s expedition is just the beginning. Research will be conducted at the Blue Hole site over the next two weeks. The data collected will help create an accurate model of the Blue Hole and give scientists around the world the opportunity to study how climate change over the years has affected the development of the site.

[blockquote style=”2″]”What secrets are hidden in the world’s largest underwater cave, over 30 million years old and 126 metres deep? Dive with Discovery’s cameras and descend to the bottom of the Great Blue Hole, which has only been explored once before – in 1971 by legendary traveller Jacques Cousteau.”[/blockquote]

We can expect many interesting shots. To ensure the quality of the shots, there will be an additional light source in the water to allow the first crew and viewers at home to see as much of the magic hidden inside the Belize Blue Hole as possible.

[blockquote style=”2″]”This time the crystal clear waters of the cave filled with countless sharks will be shown to us live: Richard Branson – visionary, founder of Virgin Group and co-founder of Ocean Unite, Eric Bergman – underwater pilot and Fabien Cousteau – documentary filmmaker and ocean conservationist, grandson of Jacques.”[/blockquote]

Viewers will be able to watch the broadcast of this unique, historic expedition Discovery Channel will be able to watch (live) on Sunday, December 2, at 22:00.
