Painting, as befits true art, has long since left the confines of the studio. For the artist, the surrounding world and open spaces not only provide inspiration, but are also the place where the creative process takes place. It comes as no surprise, then, that the Russian painter Olga Belka has combined her passions and taken her easel and paints underwater!

The search for new forms, inspiration and ways to pursue one’s passion is something that always characterises true artists. An open mind and imagination that allows you to look differently. Breaking schemes and templates to create something new and unusual.

The painter, who is also a diving instructor, realised at some point that many people are not able to see what the divers see. In her opinion, photos or films do not fully convey the magic of the underwater world either, so she decided to start creating her underwater paintings.

Interestingly, in order to be able to create underwater paintings, the artist had to develop special paints that were up to the task. She keeps their composition a secret, but assures us that they are completely friendly to the underwater environment, which is her greatest inspiration and source of energy in life.

Unusual works created on the seabed need time, which, as we know, is always limited underwater. Olga Belka usually creates her paintings during 2 to 6 two-hour diving sessions.

The painter is quite active in her underwater art and has already had her first exhibition of underwater works. Those interested can purchase individual paintings, which start at $3,000, while those who would like to try their hand at underwater painting with a brush in their hand also have the opportunity to do so.
