A probe of the American space agency NASA, Curiosity, has landed on the surface of Mars. In the face of such facts, we have to agree with the statement that we are living in interesting times. We are slowly beginning to unravel the secrets of the red planet, all fuelled by the hope of finding traces of organic life.

In our rush to conquer the universe, we have forgotten that most of our planet is still waiting for its discoverers. Extraordinary creatures and countless natural wonders hide beneath the surface of the water. Technological progress has allowed people to reach the point where the deepest recesses of the sea are within reach.

Who knows what we will find there? Instead of colonising other planets from sci-fi movies, will we attempt to colonise the deep? Let us hope that at least some of the questions swirling around in this topic will be answered.
