“Hovering” display
The micro OLED screen is designed to be mounted on a diving mask, close to the human eye. Using precision proximity optics, this ‘floating’ display creates a screen image that appears at a virtual distance of approximately 1m, making it easy for divers to monitor dive data without losing visual contact with their surroundings.
The HUD screen is located just above the diver’s right eye. This allows the right eye to maintain an almost unobstructed field of view at all times, and access dive data by looking up.
Single knob control
The Galileo HUD features a rotary knob that allows for easy, intuitive access and one-handed control of HUD functions. Operation involves turning the knob up and down to navigate through menus and change settings.
“Press and release” the knob to turn on the HUD, go to the main menu, enter a sub-menu, select a function and save settings. “Press and hold” allows you to return to the previous menu or screen view, edit settings, and from the Surface screen, turn off the HUD. Throughout the process, prompts are displayed as to what type of “pressure” is required to perform each function.
Attachment with “hinge”
Before or after a dive, or when you don’t need constant access to your dive data, the Galileo HUD offers a convenient feature (like military night vision goggles) – the ability to “flip” the device up. When you want to monitor your dive data again, simply “flip” the display back up to the position that allows you to read-track your dive.
Benefits of diving with Galileo HUD
The incredible readability of the Galileo HUD screen, allowing divers to view both dive data and underwater landscapes without having to ‘refocus their vision’, is a huge step forward for computer-assisted diving. This non-contact data monitoring will be appreciated by photographers and those who engage in underwater activities that require the use of both hands, including military and public safety divers.
In addition, by not requiring divers to raise their arms or reach for the console to check dive data, the HUD allows divers to maintain a more relaxed and streamlined position while moving (diving) in the water.
But when the moment comes to change the display view or make an adjustment, operating a single knob is much easier than having to search for and operate multiple buttons.
Compatibility
The Galileo HUD is compatible with a wide range of SCUBAPRO masks, including Spectra, Spectra Mini, Zoom EVO, Synergy Twin, Synergy 2 Twin, Currents Pro, Ecco Mask Two, Vibe 2, Futura 1, Pro Ear, Flux Twin.
