Mateusz Malina with a world record in freediving!

On 9th November in Brno, Czech Republic, our compatriot Mateusz Malina with a fantastic result of 226m set a new world record in DNF competition – Dynamic No Fins. After winning the world vice-championship in 2011 and overcoming the recent problems related to the continuation of his career, Mateusz seems to be on his way to fight for the top places at next year’s world championships.

However, things could have turned out very differently. The young, talented athlete was facing financial problems that could have hampered his career and prevented him from jumping permanently into the world’s top free divers. It was due to a lack of funds that he had to miss the last world championships.

Fortunately, a sponsor appeared – medical company Grena Ltd and today Mateusz can focus on training and achieving further goals. One of them was to beat the record of the Croatian – Goran Colak, who was the holder of the current record since 21 November 2013, when he covered the distance of 225m.

“Everything happens for a reason! My motivation and will are unbreakable. As many times as I fall and fail, I pick myself up to take on the challenge again! Yesterday, the goal was finally achieved. I can’t express how happy I am. I know that nothing lasts forever and one day, someone will break this record… But it is very important to me from a psychological point of view, because it confirms that my training methods, approach and knowledge are leading me in the right direction” – wrote Mateusz on his facebook

Mateusz Malina’s story shows that with the right attitude, perseverance, hard training and faith in one’s own abilities, it is possible to overcome the accumulating difficulties and achieve success. For people who are interested in free diving, Mateusz’s record is certainly a great stimulus for further development and a great success for the entire freediving community.

We would like to congratulate him on his world record and wish him continued success!
