After a successful reception of the model Garmin MK1 the manufacturer decided to follow the blow and establish itself for good on the shelf with products dedicated to divers. In addition to the already mentioned versions of the Descent MK2 and MK2i dive computer, Garmin also announced the introduction of a wireless transmitter. The Descent T1 allows you to monitor the gas level in the cylinder of a diver or a companion.
The new Garmin dive computer connects to the Descent T1 transmitter via Garmin SubWave. In this way, it provides the user with data on the pressure of the breathing mixture in the cylinder. As the manufacturer argues, SubWave is a new and also revolutionary communication system. It provides greater range and reliability compared to traditional systems.
The device can simultaneously monitor pressure from up to five paired Garmin Descent T1 transmitters. This allows the user, for example, to display gas pressure The device can monitor your own cylinder, remaining dive time and gas consumption. It also has the ability to monitor other people if they are no more than 10 metres away. As convinced by the manufacturer, this makes the unit an interesting alternative for instructors.
TheGarmin Descent MK2/MK2i computer can operate in several different dive modes. First of all, we have here the well-known single and multi-gas modes (including nitrox, trimix and 100% O2). In addition, there are also gauge and freediving modes. Underwater hunting and CCR modes complete the package.
The unit displays all relevant information such as depth, dive time, temperature, ascent and descent rates, gases currently in use, PO2, decompression and safety stops and much, much more.
In addition, the new Garmin dive computer also features a three-axis compass. All the above-mentioned information the device presents on a 1.4-inch colour display. Not only is it clear and readable even in sunlight, but it’s also 36% larger than the Descent MK1.
As befits a manufacturer of advanced equipment for athletes and people leading active lifestyles, also Garmin Descent MK2/MK2i is equipped with many useful features that make it much more than just a dive computer on the surface.
Price: 1299.99 – 1499.99 USD.
The Descent T1 transmitter will be available late Q4 2020 with a suggested retail price of $399.99.
