This is the wool obtained from the fleeces of sheep called merinos, which are reared under special care in New Zealand. It is much finer and denser than that of lowland sheep, because these animals have had to adapt to the specific conditions in which they live.

In addition, items made from this wool have antibacterial properties and counteract odour, as the fibres from which they are made accelerate the excretion of moisture and do not combine with human fat.

The SmartWool company decided to take advantage of this unique set of characteristics. In this way, processed wool was used to produce the whole collection of socks.
