The Polish representative of Finnish brand Suunto – Technika Podwodna, has announced an upcoming software update for one of its flagship products – the Suunto EON Steel dive computer. Update 1.3 is expected to be available as early as June 14, 2016. Please find below information on the changes that the latest software upgrade will bring.
The latest update offers new features and improvements, such as emergency gas change during a dive, a deep sleep mode to extend battery life and parallel field switching to improve customisation of the display.
The computer will communicate via Bluetooth (from version 4.0) with Suunto Movescount applications (yes, Bluetooth was on board from the very beginning). You will be able to download your dive logs wirelessly, for example. In Suunto Movescount you will be able to collect and share dive trips, create a comprehensive dive archive, and supplement dive logs with stories, photos, and videos. The software will be available in 17 languages (including Polish). The software update will also introduce new features and improvements for the EON Steel.
Modification of gases during the dive (!)
In emergency situations, divers using multiple gas mixtures can now change gases during the dive. This will allow the diver to continue the dive and receive correct decompression information based on the dive computer calculations.
Extend battery life when not in use.
“Deep Sleep” is a new feature that extends the battery life of your Suunto EON Steel computer when it has not been used for two days.
Improved data display preferences.
Customisable field pairs make it easy to view the parameters displayed. The organisation of field pairs on the display has been simplified so that you can display only the information you need while diving.
Improvement of the logbook
Dive logs now allow you to search for data based on maximum depth and dive time (in addition to the date/time based search option). Additionally, you can select multiple dives to compare them with each other.
New algorithm lock indicator
The Suunto Fused™ RGBM algorithm will lock for 48 hours if you miss mandatory decompression stops for more than 3 (three) minutes. In this case, you will see “LOCKED” on the screen (instead of “ERROR” (Error). More information on this soon.
The Suunto Movescount App is compatible with iOS7.1 (iPhone, iPad) and Android 4.3 and later. It can be downloaded from the App Store on Google Play.
Both the update for EON Steel and the applications are free of charge.
