A great duel for a world record at Vertical Blue 2018!

The 10th edition of the Vertical Blue competition, held in the Bahamas, is a real feast for breath-hold diving enthusiasts. After great dives accompanied by world records by Aleksei Molchanov, Alessi Zecchini and Alenka Artnik, it was time for a very exciting battle.

Italy’s Alessia Zecchini and Japan’s Hanako Hirose starred. The two athletes fought each other in an exciting competition for the title of the best female athlete in the world in the constant weight competition – CWT.

Zecchini was the first to enter the water and, cutting through the water in her characteristic position, she made a magnificent dive to 107 metres. She made the turn without any problems and started her return to the surface, where, after following the procedures, she was able to enjoy her result of 107 metres and a new world record.

As a gesture of friendship and great sportsmanship, Hirose congratulated her friend on her result and hugged her warmly. Now it was her turn to face the high score and show her class.

The Japanese woman reached a depth of 107 metres smoothly and without any problems. Unfortunately there were problems with the marker that she should have taken with her to the surface. From then on, everything went wrong and she ended up in a blackout in deep water. Immediate assistance and help from the medical team quickly brought her back to consciousness.

With this, Alessia Zecchini became the undisputed winner and set a world record for the third time during the ongoing Vertical Blue competition.
