The crew of the Polish hudrographic ship “Arctowski”, while exploring the bottom of the Baltic Sea by sonar, came across an interesting find. The researchers managed to locate the wreck of a bomber plane, dating back to World War II.
“We would like to inform you that the crew of the hydrographic vessel “Arctowski” managed to obtain extremely interesting images from MBES (EM 3002D) and towed sonar (Klein 3900) presenting the remains of a wreck – most probably a WWII bomber plane.”
The recorded data allows the wreck to be provisionally classified as a twin-engine Ju88/188 or B-25. As the Association of Marine Hydrographers of the Republic of Poland informs on its website, in the near future the wreck will be subjected to more detailed examination using an underwater ROV.
