The biggest diving show in Europe is already behind us. The 50th edition of the Boot Show in Düsseldorf, is an event in which everyone should participate at least once, to see with your own eyes what a real diving event looks like and to what standards we should compare the country. However, if someone did not manage to visit Germany this year, let us have a few words of summary below.

Boot has shown that Poland is a real power in the production of diving equipment. With each edition, the number of companies from the country on the Vistula is increasing. In 2019 it was Seacraft, Xdeep, Santi, NoGravity, Tecline, SeeYa, OMS, Mola Mola, Seawolf and Kwark. We have a lot to be proud of, as the products of Polish companies enjoy a constantly growing interest and high reputation.

The biggest surprise and surprise was the premiere of the new Mares Horizon rebreather, which we first reported about here. The new unit has been created by rEvo and is dedicated mainly to the recreational market. For the next few years, SSI will have a monopoly on training here.

However, this was not the only novelty and surprise. A very interesting debut was the appearance of the French company Serenity Concept, which released an extremely simple dive computer. The device is available in three versions, and its most important function is navigation. It allows you to always return to the place where you entered the water. The error tolerance is max 50 meters. The device is charged wirelessly and a full battery provides 30 hours of autonomy. The computer offers two screens on the display – one is the aforementioned navigation and the other presents information on diving. The whole is characterised by a nice design and style, as befits a French product.

Another new manufacturer that came to Düsseldorf is a company from Malta – Knight Divers. Their flagship product is technical diving wings, which are produced in a rather unusual shape.

It is also worth mentioning that the legendary Halcyon brand is preparing to launch the H Europe project, and thus, according to the announcements, quite big changes in the training and equipment market will soon be seen.

After the end of the jubilee edition we know one thing – the number of diving companies willing to exhibit, and which had to be told off, was so high that the organisers have already announced that next year the diving section will be spread over two halls.

Unfortunately, there was also no shortage of unpleasant incidents. As in wok 2018, so also during this edition, two DPV scooters stolen. This time, devices from the renowned Suex brand fell prey to thieves. An unprecedented and highly embarrassing incident, in turn, was computer battery explosion Heinrichs Weikamp. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the situation circulated the diving Internet and was widely commented. The official statement of the manufacturer can be read here.

Wandering along the fair’s aisles, we came across the stand of a mermaid school which trains under the watchful eye of PADI. You will be able to read more about this unusual project in the article Mermaid Kat, which will be published on 10 March, in the latest issue of DIVERS24 magazine!
