The wreck will in some time be open to divers visiting the area around Fort Myers, Florida. In recent years, the ship has been an attraction at the Memorial Museum waterfront in Key West. There, it was possible to go on board and take a tour of the interior. Now it will play a similar role underwater.

You could say it’s a kind of return from the afterlife, as Mohawk had been rusting away forgotten in a Staten Island junkyard for 15 years. Now, as the newest artificial reef in the region, it is sure to draw many diving enthusiasts underwater.
