In the Italian town of Abano Terme, located near Padua, the world’s deepest diving pool is being built. Sunny Italy intends to tempt tourists not only with beautiful open waters, but also with the possibility of visiting a real architectural gem among artificial water reservoirs.

The bottom of the Italian colossus will be at a depth of 40m, which is 7m deeper than the current record holder from Belgium, the Nemo33 pool. The fact that the Italian giant will have almost 2x the capacity is not insignificant. Looking at the success of the Brussels swimming pool from this perspective, we can expect a similar situation in Italy.

The new structure has been named Y-40 and measures 20x18m. It has been divided into several sectors with different depths. There will also be an offer for slightly more demanding and advanced divers. Y-40 will have 4 training caves for technical divers. The whole area will be filled with water at a constant temperature of 33°C, which completely solves the problem of having any kind of wetsuit.

The new Italian diving mecca is being built as part of the 4-star Hotel Terme Millepini and will be an original addition to the already available offer. The swimming pool will be available all year round, with separate times for specific activities to develop diving skills.

For visitors to the pool, areas have been created within the pool for practising underwater photography, a set for photo-video sessions, a separate room for technical training, as well as many recreational areas.

It is worth mentioning that the whole project was designed and commissioned to Italian companies. It is to be expected, therefore, that they will treat this project with the utmost prestige and ambition, in effect creating a structure that will be talked about with unfeigned admiration.
