TEKDiveUSA conference - information and Polish accents

In just over a week on Friday 22 April, TEK Dive USA – one of the largest events aimed at technical divers from all over the world – will kick off. The meeting will take place at Kovens Conference Center in Miami, Florida and will last for 3 days – 22-24 April 2016. Among both exhibitors and invited personalities of the diving world, we can expect the best and visitors can only regret that some lectures will be held simultaneously.

This year, the organisers have invited many unusual guests to present their experiences, projects and works. Among them are those already known for their performances in front of Polish audiences: Brett B Hemphill, Becky Kagan Schott, Jill Heinerth, Richie Kohler, Phil Short, Tom Mount (a true legend!), Antti Apunen, Janne Suhonen or Richard Lundgren. In addition to the above-mentioned celebrities there will be great technical divers from the USA, who have not yet had the opportunity to visit Poland, but everything is still ahead of us.

With such a great event could not miss the Polish accent, of course. Among the wide range of prominent figures invited as speakers, Poland will be represented by the well-known Krzysztof Starnawski. Cave diver, record holder, instructor and explorer will present two topics to the audience gathered in Miami. The first will be closed circuit diving in a sidemount configuration, while the second lecture will introduce new technologies used in the exploration of deep caves. As you know, “Starnaś” has many years of experience in this field collected in Mexico, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Bosnia and Albania.

Also among the competition photos we can find photographs by Irena Stangierska. What’s more, the works bearing the characteristic style of Irena’s photographs are in the very top and our compatriot has a good chance of winning. All serious players operating on the American diving equipment market, whose products are also very popular in our country, will appear in Florida. The list of exhibitors includes: Apeks/Aqualung, Atomic Aquatics, Bare, Dive Rite, Dui, Fourth Element, Halcyon, HammerHead CCR, JJ CCR, Light Monkey, OMS, Santi, Shearwater, Ursuit or Zeagle.

In turn, organizations such as PADI, SSI and IANTD will appear with a training offer for divers, as well as for instructors.

There will also be plenty of activities for everyone who decides to attend TEKDiveUSA 2016. Valuable prizes will be drawn among the guests! The prizes to be won include a Dive Rite LX20 Flashlight, a trip for two to the Virgin Islands, a new computer from the Shearwater brand – Perdix, a Hollis automaton for sidemount configuration, 5 cave diving helmets that the manufacturer will make exactly according to the winners’ wishes (the so-called custom version), a trip and a 12-day stay in Trook Lagoon, a Dui brand heater and many others.

TEKDiveUSA is held every two years. It is a conference organised for technical divers of all types and from all over the world. The formula of the event combines three main elements: the substantive – lectures, talks and workshops, diving equipment trade fair, and a gala dinner combined with an evening gala. With its size, momentum and number of exhibitors, speakers and guests, TEKDiveUSA is definitely among the largest and most important events related to technical diving.
