On its website, the Canadian manufacturer has announced the release of Shearwater Firmware update version 65 for the NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix and Perdix AI units. Owners of the above units can now update their computers.

The latest update applies to the NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix and Perdix computers as they all share the same firmware base. However, due to hardware differences, not all features, are available on all models. However, the following changes apply to all models unless otherwise noted.

New features:

GF surface display added. Shows the gradient factor if an immediate ascent were to occur. Different from GF99, which shows the gradient factor at the current depth
Sample rate can be set to 2, 5 or 10 sec (previously it was always 10 sec)
Deco Clear” option added

The latest version of the software also includes various improvements and fixes. The update is recommended for all users running NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix and Perdix AI.
