This Wednesday, 28 February, there will be a meeting with Witold Hoffmann – participant of the USDCT exploration expedition to explore the Mexican super cave – Sistema Chieve.

A total of 60 cavers from 8 countries. The back-up facilities included several tons of equipment, food and over 3 kilometres of ropes. Sistema Cheve – an amazing cave in the Mexican Sierra Juarez mountains with a hydrologically confirmed denivelation of 2597m (so far the deepest cave in the world, Verevkina, has “only” 2204m) .

[blockquote style=”2″]”During a three-month USDCT expedition in 2003. Rick Stanton and Jason Mallison reached a depth of 1484m. Beyond siphon 2 they were stopped by a large collapse blocking the passage. Since then, no one has taken on such a huge logistical challenge as returning to this system. In the spring of 2017, I took part in an expedition by Bill Stone and the USDCT (United States Deep Caving Team) that had been in preparation for 2 years, with the goal of reaching the end of this cave – a place that is already being compared to the dark side of the moon in terms of accessibility – and going further…” – Hoffmann explains[/blockquote].

During the meeting you will learn everything about the expedition and its course, which, according to the man himself “was so unexpected that no screenwriter would be ashamed of it”..
