A squad of 14 divers from the Fleet Diving Squadron at Horse Island decided to raise £5,000 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. To do this they decided to organise a marathon… across the bottom of a lake!

In full professional diver’s gear, weighing about 30 kg, they decided to cover a distance of over 40 km in 30 hours, walking at a depth of 6 metres.

As one of the divers taking part in the challenge, Duncan Watt, admitted to reporters, achieving the goal will be a huge effort, both mentally and physically.

RNRMC representatives commented on the whole event as the most eccentric fundraiser they had ever encountered.
