With our diving development comes more and more difficult dives. As a result, the risk of accidents increases and new rescue methods and measures appear. Conducting diving at sea, it may happen to us that instead of returning on board the boat we set out on, we shorten our journey and fly by helicopter.
Of course, I do not wish anyone similar experiences, but situations like this do happen and it is worth being prepared, as well as having a pale idea of what a rescue operation looks like. After all, getting an injured person from a vessel to a helicopter is not a simple matter.
In the video below, a Coast Guard team called by a dive boat takes the diver who had the least luck that day. Although he showed no signs of decompression sickness, the crew decided not to take any risks and get the diver to a decompression chamber as soon as possible.
Fortunately, it ended with full prophylaxis. After 6 hours of decompression the victim was released home and will be able to treat the whole situation as an interesting experience, which he will talk about on future trips.
