On 10-11 August 2013 in Olecko, on Lake Oleckie Wielkie, after years of absence in the sports arena, Polish Underwater Orienteering Divers Championships were held. The competition was held in a pleasant, sporting atmosphere despite the rainy weather on the first day. Before noon the M-Course competitions were held. The downpour and storm forced the organisers to cancel the start of the afternoon KONTAKT competition. Safety reasons prevailed.

“The start of our competitors in the Polish Championships is a successful one, but as usual it could have been better if it wasn’t for the equipment problems we have been facing since our first starts. First of all, we lack good navigation equipment, which is expensive. To count in the top of the country and possible international starts we have to find a way to get it.” – said Janusz Romańczuk – President and head of training of the Olecko club.

The competition was accompanied by very difficult conditions in the water (very low visibility), which resulted in the fact that even very titled competitors could not cope with the level of difficulty on the routes set by the organiser. The championships were organised by the Olecko Diving Association and the LOK “Amfiprion” Diving Club in Olecko. The event was co-financed by the Olecko Poviat Starosty.
