On 10-11 August 2013 in Olecko, on Lake Oleckie Wielkie, after years of absence in the sports arena, Polish Underwater Orienteering Divers Championships were held. The competition was held in a pleasant, sporting atmosphere despite the rainy weather on the first day. Before noon the M-Course competitions were held. The downpour and storm forced the organisers to cancel the start of the afternoon KONTAKT competition. Safety reasons prevailed.
In men’s M-CURSE competition Wojciech Kujawski (2626 points) representing OSN “Amfiprion” was the winner and thus won the title of the Polish Champion. Second place was Tomasz Żabiński (350 points) from “UKIEL” Olsztyn club. Bronze medal in this discipline won Andrzej Fedorov (350 points) also from SSN “Amfiprion”. In fourth place was Janusz Wieczorek from “UKIEL” Olsztyn, in fifth place – Gabriel Urynowicz (OSN “Amfiprion”). Among women triumphed Wiktoria Zach (350 points) from “MEANDER” Goniądz club.
On the second day further individual and team competitions were held. The ‘KONTAKT’ discipline was won by Janusz Dramiński (1716 points) from the UKIEL Olsztyn club. Second placed was Wojciech Kujawski (800 points) from the OSN ‘Amfiprion’, third place was taken by Tomasz Dramiński (200 points) from the UKIEL Olsztyn club. Further places were taken by: IV – Łukasz Ratuszny (OSN “Amfiprion”), V – Gabriel Urynowicz ( OSN “Amfipron”), VI – Janusz Wieczorek (“UKIEL” Olsztyn). The competition in women’s category was won by Agnieszka Zach (200 points) from Meander Goniądz Club.
The team competition in the category – men, scoring 300 points, was won by the “UKIEL-1″ team composed of:
Wojciech Kujawski – OSN “Amfiprion”
Tomasz Żabiński – “UKIEL” Olsztyn
Janusz Wieczorek – “UKIEL” Olsztyn
Bernard Pszczoła – “UKIEL” Olsztyn
Among the women, the team consisting of:
Adriana Ulikowska – OSN “Amfiprion”
Weronika Ulikowska – OSN “Amfiprion”
Agnieszka Zach – “Meander” Goniadz
Wiktoria Zach – “Meander” Goniadz
The Judging Committee, consisting of the following members, watched over the proper course of the competition:
Mirosław Kobeszko – Białystok
Krzysztof W. Kielczyk – Białystok
Andrzej Markiewicz – Suwałki
Rafał Żukowski – Olecko
Zbigniew Kowalewski – Olecko
“The start of our competitors in the Polish Championships is a successful one, but as usual it could have been better if it wasn’t for the equipment problems we have been facing since our first starts. First of all, we lack good navigation equipment, which is expensive. To count in the top of the country and possible international starts we have to find a way to get it.” – said Janusz Romańczuk – President and head of training of the Olecko club.
The competition was accompanied by very difficult conditions in the water (very low visibility), which resulted in the fact that even very titled competitors could not cope with the level of difficulty on the routes set by the organiser. The championships were organised by the Olecko Diving Association and the LOK “Amfiprion” Diving Club in Olecko. The event was co-financed by the Olecko Poviat Starosty.
