During the first part of the day, about 50 WFP participants were able to attend theoretical lectures. They were devoted to underwater photography, the configuration of photographic equipment and digital image processing. The lectures were conducted by Piotr Stós, Marcin Trzciński and Tomasz Płociński. The gentlemen conveyed as much knowledge as they could fit into a “standard training unit” in an accessible and clear manner. Sharing their rich experience, they enriched the theory with pictures and practical examples.
In the afternoon and evening the second part of the event took place. This was the moment when each of the participants WFP had the chance to realise their ideas on underwater photography. Underwater during instructional dives, of course.
Thanks to the hospitality shown by Deepspot, the presenters realised three thematic areas to practice. Among them, a macro and supermacro photography zone, a zone for working with models and a zone for practicing with light in closed spaces. Well-prepared logistics and assured safety allowed people to excel in their chosen type of photography or gain experience in completely new areas, all at their own individual pace.
In the macro zone, practical underwater support was provided by Konrad Baar with the help of Piotr Kudełka. The gentlemen set up, as befits the macro zone, a photographic mini obstacle course. Among the objects, they placed, for example, an artificial coral reef with equally artificial nudibranchs of various species.
In contrast, in the light zone in enclosed spaces Tomasz Plocinski, Paweł Tworek i Marcin Trzciński They helped to practice and realise various ideas of light setting, model and composition. All against the background of rock masks that resemble those known from the Cambodian temple of Bajon, as well as in spaces simulating the caves of the Mexican Yukatan.
While in the working area with the model, courtesy of Piotr Stósa i Robert “Grazdan” Knazi, participants WFP They were able to perfect not only the communication between photographer and model, but also the setting of fixed lights, so important in Beauty sessions.
In addition to the lectures and practical activities, the most courageous participants had the opportunity to subject the effects of their work to a “severe evaluation”. Irena Stangierska During individual consultations she suggested how to improve composition and work with light, digital processing and other aspects.
The1st Underwater Photography Weekend was crowned by a presentation of works by a dozen Polish underwater photographers. The wonderful photographs decorated the normally austere-industrial walls of the Deepspot pool.
Among the authors who presented their works were Piotr Stós, Aleksandra “Goldi” Godlewska, Robert “Grażdan” Knaź, Konrad Baar, Tomasz Płociński, Tomasz Stachura, Patryk Krzyżak, Michał Bazała, Piotr Gorzelak, Marek Kocięcki, Wojciech Pudlarz and Irena Stangrieska.
Since the opening of both surface located in the main hall of the swimming pool, as well as underwater section are very popular. It is hoped, therefore, that the initial three-week deadline set for the exhibition is likely to be extended.’
